Steel making is a process of further refining the Iron as received from the various routes of Iron Making by Oxidizing the Carbon, Silicon and other elements and finishing the liquid to desired (customers’) chemical specification.
There are basically three processes:
A. Converter /EOF Process ( BOF/EOF)
B . Electric Arc Process (EAF)
Secondary Steel Making
Casting & Solidification
As cast material is hot worked into various shapes and sizes as per customers’ specifications in a rolling mill. These mills are described as plate mills, wire rod mills, bar & rod mills , blooming mills etc. as per the final shape the mill produces.
Forging is a process of deformation in either in the hot or cold condition . The cast steel is wrought into final or pre-final shapes by means of a press or hammer. Owing to its cost of production , hot forging is usually conducted on very special steels or steel products of very large shapes and sizes.
